WASHINGTON: US State Department spokesperson John Kirby on Friday said that US is closely monitoring events in Karachi and the arrest of some Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders.

Answering a question during the daily press briefing, the state department spokesperson said that US is closely monitoring those events and the authorities are aware Pakistani security forces have arrested some MQM members allegedly involved in violent protests and that these operations have included the closure and the demolition of offices deemed to have been illegally constructed.
