US lauds passage of anti-honour killing law in Pakistan
WASHINGTON: United States has congratulated Pakistan on passing legislation against honour killings.
State Department spokesman John Kirby said that the United States welcomes passage of the law against honour killings in Pakistan.
Kirby also said that that Pakistan’s efforts in passing the legislation are praise worthy.
The state department official said that the bill is an important step in protection of women in Pakistan adding that it will promote participation of the women in the society.
He further said that the US will continue its support of Pakistan for creating social awareness in the country.
