A disturbing video of a dog being forced to perform stunt for a movie has emerged online, sparking debate on animal cruelty.
A film crew for Hollywood film A Dog’s Purpose have been criticised after they appeared to force a dog into water against its will.
The terrified German Shepherd, one of four used to make the film, fought against its trainer for a scene in which it was meant to be swimming in raging waters.
The effect of the torrent was created using eight huge motors.
It is believed that the scene was shot in November 2015 near Winnipeg, Canada.
Actor Josh Gad, who did the voice over for the dog, said: ‘I am shaken and sad to see any animal put in a situation against its will.’
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals PETA said: ‘PETA is calling on dog lovers to boycott the film in order to send the message that dogs and other animals should be treated humanely, not as movie props.’
