Vijay Sampal's journey from a plumber to a minister

TOP NEWS

Newly elected Indian Prime Minister Narendre Modi who belongs to a lower-class family in India made an interesting addition in cabinet yesterday.  A 53-year-old leader from Punjab who started his career as a plumber, Vijay Sampla became the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment.

While talking to an Indian News Channel Sampal said, Never even in my dreams would I have thought that I would become a minister, I have worked as a laborer, plumber in gulf and a technician but never thought of this to happen. He further added that when a son of a tea-seller can become prime minister, why can’t a plumber become a minister?

Vijay Sampal joined politics in 1998 and has studied only 10 classes. After Akali Dal’s Harsimrat Kaur Badal, he is the second minister from Punjab. His political career was started when he got elected as a head of his village. He has also held some key  posts in Bharatiya Janata Party.
