Wafaqul Madaris to hold rallies against govt

Holding a joint press conference, Wafaqul Madaris chief, Qari Hanif Jalandhari and chairman of Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC), Allama Tahir Ashrafi vowed not to let anyone demean the respectable status of madaris on the pretext of terrorism.

While announcing to hold protest rallies against the government, they said that the first rally in this regard will be held on March 15 at Jamia Ashrafia Lahore, while the second will be held on March 19 at Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi.

They also condemned the discriminatory attitude of the rulers towards seminaries.

The top clerics clearly refused to accept government decision of deporting the foreign students, despite having all the legal documents.

They referred to the propaganda against seminaries as part of ‘international agenda’ and clarified that the leadership of seminaries wants to ‘cooperate, not to confront’.

“Rulers of the state should also regard religious class equal to other Pakistanis and they must not relate mosques and madaris, turban and beard to terrorism”, said that religious leaders.
