WAPDA win final hockey match of Pakistan Cup

KARACHI: WAPDA on Sunday won the final hockey match of Pakistan Cup against PIA at Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium in Karachi, ARY News reported.

WAPDA beat PIA 4-2. A large number of people attended the final match. The event was organised by ARY Shukriya Campaign.


WAPDA started the game in aggressive style with repeated attacks on PIA. WAPDA were 2 and PIA 1 in the first half and the second half was also dominated by WAPDA. Tasawwar Iqbal of WAPDA scored 2 goals.

The culminating ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Sports Minister Sindh Muhammed Bux Khan Mahar, former hockey player Shahbaz Senior and Chairman ARY Network Haji Iqbal along other dignitaries.

Pakistan Cup of hockey was started on August 07 and its final match was today.


The Sindh government gave prizes of Rs2 million to the winning team, WAPDA, Rs1 million to the runner-up team, PIA, and Rs0.5 million to NBP.
