WI cricketer Darren Sammy’s Pashto tweets are a sight for sore eyes

Who would have thought West Indian all-rounder and Peshawar Zalmi’s own Darren Sammy would let loose a barrage of Pashto words?

Not many Pakistani cricketers speak Pashto and when you come across an international player tweeting in the language, that’s a sight for sore eyes. The two time West Indian world cup-winning captain had a conversation on micro-blogging site Twitter, which appears to belong to Mr Pervaiz Khattak, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Sammy was quick to respond in some Pashto words of his own:-

Sure enough, the West Indian cricketer acknowledged that he had learned Pashto language from Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi.

Javed Afridi had earlier tweeted that he would request the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to provide Sammy with an honourary citizenship owing to his love and regard for Pakistan.
