Winter attempt of Nanga Parbat called off

A daring winter attempt of the 8,126 metres-high Nanga Parbat — the world’s ninth highest mountain and Pakistan’s second highest — by climbers from Italy, Poland and Pakistan has been called off because of continuing bad weather and an injury to one of the primary climbers, Italian Daniele Nardi.

A message posted on the expedition’s website titled “Farewell Nang” said that it had been called off.
