Women’s Cricket: Ellyse Perry stars as India denied whitewash

SYDNEY: Ellyse Perry’s all round performance helped Australia beat India by 15 runs in the third Twenty20 at Sydney and avoid a whitewash in the series.

Perry remained unbeaten on 55 runs and took career best figures of 4/12.

India won the toss and opted invited Southern Stars to take guard first.

In their 20 overs, The Australian side scored 136/5 with Perry being the top scorer while skipper Meg Lanning and Beth Mooney scored 26 and 34 respectively.

Rajeshwari Gayakwad took two wickets for the Indian team.

The Indian side scored 121 runs in their 20 overs with Vellaswamy Vanitha making 28 runs while Harmanpreet Kaur and Veda Krishnamurthy contributing 24 and 21 runs with the bat.

Perry grabbed four wickets while Rene Farrell took two wickets for the team.

The visitors won the three-match series 2-1
