TOP NEWS

ARY News had aired the story of capturing of the school ground by ‘marriage-hall mafia’. Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief, Altaf Hussain and Governor Sindh, Dr Ishrat ul Ebad listened to the pleas of innocent children and the state apparatus was eventually mobilized.

The school playground was desolated due to 12-year-long encroachment by the marriage-hall mafia; as a result extracurricular activities of the students were all abandoned.

The Commissioner Karachi, upon directives by the Governor, ordered for demolishing illegal marriage-halls.

Officials arrived at the spot with heavy machinery and bulldozed the halls and hence ended a years’ long encroachment of public land in the metropolis.

The Governor Sindh on this occasion thanked ARY News for pointing out a public-interest issue. He referred to such activities around schools as a ‘security risk’.

Students of the YMCA School seemed very pleased with the development and said that the encroachment not only deprived them of a playfield but it also affected their educational activities.

Upon Governor’s directives, additional commissioner Karachi also visited the school and got the warehouses evacuated under his supervision, which were established inside a few classrooms.
