Youngster's death after police 'torture' sparks protest

LAHORE: A youngster succumbed to his wounds he sustained during alleged torture by Lahore Police, ARY News reports.

Sources said that Police arrested Zubair and his mother Rasheedi Bibi over charges of stealing mobile phones. They allegedly  subjected the mother and her son to severe torture during which Zubair’s condition deteriorated and he passed away.

The cops also allegedly broke Rasheedi’s left hand during the torture.

It is also said that the police officers had abandon Zubair’s body outside his house. On the other hand, the police officers have claimed that the boy died in an accident.

The family of the deceased youngster took to the streets with his body to lodge their protest.

Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident and has ordered an inquiry.
