Waqar Younis, speaking to media on Tuesday, apologized to the nation over the side’s dismal show in the 2016 World Twenty20 in India. He also said that the team’s performance was not up to the mark in the tournament.

The Head Coach said that the team “needs heroes, not stars”.

“The situation will not improve via cosmetic surgery. We need to open our eyes,” he added.

He went on to say that that the sport has to be separated from politics and dismissed the rumours regarding grouping in the national cricket team.

Younis said that he will tell the facts to the fact finding committee and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will make its decision.

The Head Coach also said that he is ready to step down from the position if the team benefits from it.
