ZAB death anniversary: PPP workers reach Garhi Khuda Baksh to attend rally

LARKANA: A large number Pakistan People’s Party workers and leaders have reached Garhi Khuda Baksh while thousands others are on the way to attend party’s rally on occasion of 37th death anniversary of PPP founding leader Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

PPP co-chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will address the gathering this evening.

According to a press release, workers were chanting slogans in support of PPP and Bhutto. Buses were decorated with party flags and flexes and revolutionary PPP songs were being played at full volume.

While seeing off workers from her constituency in NA-130 Samina Khalid Ghurki said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was the one who gave recognition and rights to the have-nots in our country. He sacrificed his life for democracy in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, stringent security measures have been taken to ensure safety for participants of the rally to be held tomorrow to commemorate Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. These security arrangements include installment of CCTV cameras at the stage, deployment of seven thousand police personnel and three hundred Rangers personnel. Traffic police officials and female police officers will also discharge their duties to ensure maximum security for participants of the rally.

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was hanged on April 4, 1979 during the Zia regime. Groups of PPP activists from Lahore and other areas of Punjab started their journey towards Larkana to take part in the events marking Bhutto’s death anniversary.
