Zardari summons PPP Punjab meeting

ISLAMABAD: Former president Asif Ali Zardari has summoned a meeting of Pakistan People’s Party Punjab to discuss Senate elections, ARY News reported on Monday.

PPP Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari has called the party’s Punjab leaders in Islamabad at 8:00 tonight to discuss the party’s strategy for the elections, sources said.

The meeting will also discuss the organizational matters of the party in Punjab.

The provincial assemblies and the National Assembly will elect new members of the Senate on March 05.

Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) government had announced to bring a constitutional amendment to change the voting procedure for the Senate elections. Also backed by Imran Khan’s PTI and some other parties.

The PPP opposing the amendment, which proposes changing the voting procedure from secret ballot to the open ballot vote.

JUI-F, an ally of the government, has also announced to oppose the government’s move.
