Zohaib stars as KP outclass Balochistan in Pakistan Cup

FAISALABAD: Zohaib Khan’s all-round performance helped Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) beat Balochistan on Sunday, ARY News reported.

KP won the toss and chose to bat first in the match. They managed 246/8 in their 50 overs.

Zohaib Khan was the highest scorer for KP as he made 82 from 112 with the help of four boundaries. Opener Ahmed Shehzad made 79 runs from 70 balls after hitting 10 boundaries.

Bismillah Khan made 20 runs from 23 balls where Yasir Shah and Musadiq Ahmed scored 17 and 13 runs respectively.

Umar Gul, Sohail Tanvir, Bilawal Bhatti grabbed two wickets each for Balochistan while Saeed Ajmal and skipper Azhar Ali took a wicket each as well.

Balochistan, chasing 247 runs from 50 overs, were dismissed after scoring 172 in 45.1 overs.

Opener Babar Azam made 50 runs from 67 balls with the help of six boundaries whereas Azhar Ali made 27 from 37 deliveries with two fours to his name.

Saeed Ajmal contributed 23 runs with the blade.

Zohaib Khan was the pick of the bowlers for KP as he took four wickets while conceding 18 runs in 9.1 overs. He bowled three maidens as well.

Zia-ul-Haq and Yasir Shah grabbed two wickets while Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Asghar dismissed one batsmen each.

Zohaib Khan was named the Player of the match for his performance.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lead the table with four points followed by Sindh, Balochistan, Islamabad and Punjab.
