10 militants killed on second day of Swabi operation

SWABI: Security forces on Wednesday continued its anti-terror operation in Swabi for the second consecutive day, killing at least 10 militants, ARY News reported.
The total number of terrorists killed in two days in Swabi operation has reached 15.
The army and police personnel carried out a joint operation in Swabi’s Baja Bypass area on a tip-off and raided the locality where terrorists were believed to be hiding.
The arrival of the law enforcement agencies to the area ensued gun battle, and in the exchange of fire ten militants were killed. It is learnt that two army soldiers also sustained injuries during the operation.
‘Two soldiers martyred’
In a similar operation yesterday in Swabi, two Pakistan Army soldiers embraced martyrdom and five terrorists were killed during the shootout.
According to Inter Services Public Relations, Pakistan Army soldiers and terrorists exchanged fire in Malikabad area of Swabi. Two soldiers Captain Junaid and Sepoy Amjad were killed during the Intelligence-Based Operation.
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa stated that the sacrifices rendered by the soldiers will not go in vain.
The army chief said that terrorists will be brought to their logical end and will be held accountable for the discord.
Countrywide anti-terror operations
The army action is continuing under Pakistan Army’s Raddul Fasaad operation across the country after a wave of militant attacks last month killed more than 100 people in just 18 days.
Air force, navy, civil armed forces and other security and law enforcement agencies are jointly participating in efforts to eliminate terror from the country.
Last month, the bombings hit all four provinces and two major cities, shaking a nascent sense that the worst of the country’s militant violence may be in the past.
Most of the other recent attacks have been claimed by factions of the Pakistani Taliban, which is waging its own fight against the government but whose ranks have also cooperated with and sometimes defected to Islamic State.
