MATIARI: At least 18 members of a family, children and women among them, were killed on Monday morning in a deadly road accident on the National Highway near Hala in Matiari district.
According to rescue officials, a trailer crashed into a bus which was parked on the roadside to change a punctured tyre, seriously injuring around 30 people.
The injured were taken to Liaquat University Hospital in Hyderabad where 18 of the injured were pronounced dead while some of the accident victims are stated be in critical condition.
After learning about the accident, rescue teams immediately arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to the hospital.
The victims were residents of Hyderabad and returning from Sakrand after attending a wedding ceremony.
The identities of the deceased and injured couldn’t be established immediately.
Meanwhile, the local police have begun a probe to fix responsibility of the accident.
