25 non-custom-paid luxury vehicles found at Rawalpindi factory: sources

RAWALPINDI: Sources on Tuesday said 25 non-custom-paid vehicles were found at a textile mill in Rawalpindi on Monday night, ARY News reported.

Customs officials have sought documentary evidences as to who does the 25 luxury vehicles parked at Redco Textiles Limited in Rawalpindi belong to, sources said.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s close aide and former chairman National Accountability Bureau Saifur Rehman is owner of the factory, they said.

Managers of the factory have told that the luxury vehicles were brought for a consulate and they were not theirs.

However, customs officials have said if the vehicles were imported through legal procedure then they should present all their documents, which could not materialise so far, ARY News correspondent Babar Malik said.

Sources said the vehicles would be sent to the Customs House Islamabad until investigation in this regard was completed.

On July 30, the Sindh government in compliance with the Supreme Court order retrieved 149 luxury vehicles from the former cabinet members and government officers and parked in the government transport pool for utilizing them as per uniform policy framed by the federal government.
