4th ODI: Proteas beat Pakistan to lift ODI series

ABU DHABI: South Africa defeated Pakistan by 28 runs in the 4th One Day International (ODI) on Friday to win the series 3-1 on Friday, ARY News reports.

South Africa had won the toss and chose to bat first.

Not even the performances of Misbah-ul-Haq, Sohaib Maqsood and Ahmed Shehzad could help Pakistan chase a total of 267 in the match.

Quinton de Kock was the highest scorer for the Proteas with 112 runs followed by Hashim Amla’s 46. South African Captain AB DeVilliers scored 30 runs.

Junaid Khan and Mohammad Hafeez grabbed two wickets each whereas Mohammad Irfan took one wicket.

Pakistani openers started the reply in a confident manner. The opening pair, Mohammad Hafeez and Ahmed Shehzad, made a partnership of 74 runs in which Hafeez made 33 and Ahmed Shehzad contributed 43 runs.

Asad Shafiq only managed to make a single run.

Debutant Sohaib Maqsood made a half century and made a 88 run partnership with Captain Misbah-ul-Haq on the fourth wicket. Misbah played a Captain’s knock of 65 runs.

After the dismissal of Mishab and Sohaib, a twist occured in the match and Pakistan drifted away from the match. The team was finally bowled out 238 runs.
Dale Steyn took five wickets in the match and conceded 25 runs in his ten overs. He was also named Man of the Match.

The fifth and final ODI will be played on 11th November at Sharjah.
