LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar on Sunday said water filtration and purification plants will be installed across the province under Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority (PAPA).

Sarwar, who has recently been named patron-in-chief of the authority, vowed to run water schemes which are lying non-functional within a few months.

The governor said as many as five million houses will have access to potable water by December. He said all commissioners in the province have been directed to submit reports on water schemes.

Sarwar said previous governments wasted a lot of public funds on water schemes.

About the issues facing overseas Pakistanis, he said the PTI government will make all-out efforts to resolve their problems.

Pakistani expatriates accord Prime Minister Imran Khan special respect, the governor said.

It is noteworthy that the PTI government established the PAPA replacing the Pakistan Saaf Pani Company formed by former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The PAPA will be tasked to devise strategy, plan and parameters for survey of water contamination and provision of clean drinking water by installation of water filtration and purification plants.
