1. The Godfather
Mario Puzo penned the mafioso crime novel Godfather which became one of the greatest films of all time and probably the best Hollywood movie of the 70’s. The fictional novel dwells on the life-of-crime that Don Corleone leads as head of the Corleone family. Starring Al-Pachino, Marlon Brando and Robert Duval, the film has been adorned by fans till this day. The Godfather is considered a cult classic and still has a loyal fanbase amon viewers till this day. From Don Corleone’s feared image to Consigliere Tom’s sound advice, to Sonny Corleone’s flying temper to Michael Corleone’s sophistication, the film was a classic for all times. The hit movie spawned two sequels, the last also featuring renowned actor Andy Garcia. Francis Ford Coppola directed the film. One of the most famous dialogues from the film is, “I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse”.

2. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
J.R.R Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings book series was directed by peter Jackson into a worldwide sensation. The Lord of the Rings has had a distinctive feature; it appeals and caters to all types of audiences. From young children to the elderly, from geeks to philosophers, this movie has moved all to marvel at the author’s imagination as well as Peter Jackson’s ability to captivate that fictional world of Middle Earth onto the screen. The epic journey of Frodo Baggins from the plush, green and peaceful land of Shire to Mount Doom of Mordor leaves one astounded. The foolish, curiosity bounded antics of Merry Brandybuck and Pippin Took as well as the savoring ties of friendship between Sam and Frodo highlight the movie. J.K.Rowling’s Harry Potter series is one of the most popular book and film series of all time. The story chronicles the wizarding world of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry Potter, a young, shy boy’s world is transformed overnight when he is chosen to attend a witchcraft school. The magical world of Hogwarts along with the dangerous yet equally fun game of Quidditch has mesmerized audiences for years. The world of spells, dangerous creatures and eerie professors enabled the Harry Potter film series to gross a record breaking $7.7 billion worldwide.

4. The Wizard of Oz
The Wizard of Oz has been adapted as a film several times due to its immense popularity and connection with children. Penned by L.Frank Baum, the novel chronicles the fictional story of Dorothy Gale in the Land of Oz. A sweeping hurricane sweeps off Dorothy and her dog Toto along with their farmhouse to the land of Oz. The Good Witch Of the North greets Dorothy and informs her that she would have to obtain the help of the Wizard of Oz if she is to go back to Kansas, her native city. A 1902 Broadway musical was also launched as the Wizard of Oz and a 1939 film adaptation was also based on the series.

5. Fight Club
Fight Club is also one of the most critically acclaimed and cult classic films that originated from a novel penned by Chuck Palahniuk. The plot follows the story of an unnamed narrator (Edward Norton) who suffers from insomnia on a regular basis. As a result, he starts faking illnesses in order to attend support groups where he meets another imposter like him, Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter). Very soon, Norton meets up with a mysterious stranger named Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) who encourages him to start a fight club. The film’s eccentric plot coupled with Pitt’s acting rejuvenates the reader’s interest in the novel’s plot again. Edward Norton and Helena Carter are also impressive in their roles.
