More than 70 lac children not going to schools, tells Chaudhry Sarwar

LAHORE: The Governor of Punjab, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said that unfortunately more than 70 lac children in Pakistan are not going to schools, whilst the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has vowed to double the educational budget, in order to eliminate illiteracy from the country – ARY News reports.

Addressing a prize distribution ceremony at a school here on Friday, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said that the former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown during his recent visit here, vowed to support Pakistan in bringing educational reforms.

He added that due to non-availability of safe drinking water, 1 lac children go to hospitals and the purpose of installation of water filtration plants was to provide people with safe drinking water on a larger scale.

The Governor Punjab told that improving the health and education sectors is the top priority of the Government and it is taking practical steps in this regard.
