According to sources, the anti-corruption watchdog has initiated inquiry against Babar Khan Ghauri, a former federal minister of shipping and ports, in the light of the investigations about illegal recruitment against former GM (HR) KPT Rauf Akhtar Farooqui. Ghauri has been named as co-accused in the illegal recruitment scam, sources said.
According to sources, the former minister recruited 3000 employees from Karachi’s central district, on adhoc basis, during his tenure. The employees were later regularized without getting necessary permission from the prime minister.
The NAB in another case, investigating against Babar Ghauri and PML-N MPA Humayun Khan in a land scam. They have been allegedly involved in illegal encroachment of 12000 acres of the KPT land, which was later allotted to favorite people.
The NAB will file the reference after completion of the probe, sources said.
