ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has described the defeat of opposition motion in the National Assembly on Tuesday as victory of democracy.
“The will of the people will remain supreme in Pakistan,” said the information minister while talking to newsmen in Islamabad.
She said that rejection of opposition’s bill was a proof that choosing political leaders was the discretion of political parties and not anyone else.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) legislator Naveed Qamar presented the bill in the NA seeking amendment in Election Bill 2017 which allows disqualified members to head political parties, a provision opposition thinks has only been inserted to facilitate former PM Nawaz Sharif.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the democratic system was getting stronger in Pakistan.
She said that unity among the Pakistan Muslim League-N ranks had also rejected the impression of any cracks in the party.
