KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited different areas of the metropolis to review the progress of ongoing development projects on Sunday morning.
The chief minister visited various construction sites, including the under-construction road outside the Cant Railway Station, underpass near Numaish Chowrangi, Tipu Sultan Road from Sharea Faisal to Karsaz, and Shaheed-e-Millat Road.
Speaking to the media, Shah said citizens were not being restrained from visiting the beach to welcome the New Year and added he had issued directives for removing barriers from the roads leading to the sea view.
He advised citizens to come out to celebrate the New Year night, but desist from creating any trouble for themselves and others.
He said Karachiites will have to face hardships for three to four more months because of ongoing development projects in the city, but once they are complete, they will heave a sigh of relief.
He said the provincial government has undertaken a plan to fix the entire city, but it won’t be done in a day and will take some time.
In January, Shah said, sugar was surplus in the province, but the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) didn’t allow its export.
He said the court had earlier fixed sugarcane price at Rs182 per 40 kilograms, which resulted in closure of various sugar mills.
