LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) issued notice to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday (today) after granting protective bail to opposition leader in Punjab Assembly, Hamza Shehbaz Sharif until November 13.

The PML-N leader is facing investigation by the anti-graft watchdog in Ramzan Sugar Mills and Saaf Pani Scam.

“NAB has failed to prove charges of financial irregularities in what he thinks are politically motivated cases against him.”, Hamza Shehbaz stated to LHC bench in his bail plea.

On October 30, Hamza Shehbaz Sharif and his brother, Salman Shehbaz did not appear before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Ramzan sugar mills case.

As per details, NAB had summoned Hamza Shehbaz and Salman Shehbaz, the directors of Ramzan Sugar Mills over illegal construction of a bridge from national exchequer to facilitate their mills, causing the loss of Rs 200 million.

The NAB team kept waiting for them, but the two brothers did not appear before it. Hamza Shehbaz Sharif preferred to attend a party meeting instead of appearing before the NAB, whereas his brother Salman Shehbaz left the country on the same very day.

According to reports, Shehbaz Sharif had given illegal orders for the construction. Hamza is already under scrutiny over the Punjab Saaf Paani Company case and has appeared before the anti-graft body a number of times.

On the other hand, Salman is being investigated for owning assets beyond stated means of income. He has also appeared before NAB a number of times.
