Aamir Khan's Pk beaten by Baahubali in USA box office

When Aamir Khan’s stellar success Pk generated groundbreaking success and achieved milestones overnight, we thought no other film could better that record. However, with the release of Tollywood film Baahubali, the impossible seems to have been achieved. Baahubali has swept aside Pk and raked in $1.3 million at the USA box office, brushing past Pk‘s record of $0.97 million on the first day.

Baahubali is a multilingual period film, which will be released in two parts. The movie has been directed by SS Rajamouli and produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni. After the trailer of the movie was released, it was already being likened to the Gerard Butler starrer 300. 

Baahubali is the most expensive film being made in the history if Indian cinema, with a budget of almost Rs 250 crores for both parts. Baahubali, literally meaning The One With Strong Arms in English, is laden with special effects and tells the fictional story of two warring brothers battling for control of an ancient Indian kingdom.

Looks like Baahubali will be a resounding success worldwide, since it has raked in an impressive amount. The Tollywood movie will certainly prove to be a catalyst for change in the Tamil and Telugu film industry, which has often been sidelined due to the much bankable and profitable Bollywood film industry. However, only time will tell if this movie will be able to register an equally resounding success in India.
