ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday said the Afghan forces have set a wrong precedent by shelling innocent citizens of Pakistan on behest of foreign force, ARY News reported.

This he said after making a telephonic contact with Inspector General of Frontier Corps Balochistan Major General Nadeem Ahmed, who briefed him on the firing incident along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border near Chaman.

The minister said Afghan security agencies have failed to establish peace in their own country.

He said the befitting response from the FC and the Pakistan Army will certainly discourage incidents of firing from Afghanistan in future.

At least 10 civilians were martyred and 42 others, injured including women and children, in an unprovoked firing and shelling from Afghan side of the border in Chaman in the wee hours of Friday.

Pakistani authorities have closed the Chaman border crossing with Afghanistan to stop all cross border movement after unprovoked shelling and firing from the other side of the border.

Four Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan personnel were also among the injured.
