Pakistan is third country President Ghani visiting after taking oath of the office in September. He earlier visited Saudi Arabia and China.
Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz received President Ashraf Ghani at airport.
President Ghani leading a 30-member strong delegation including foreign minister, minister of commerce, border affairs minister and the Army Chief of Afghanistan.
The Afghan President will hold talks with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other government leaders during his two-day stay in Pakistan.
The talks will be focussed on bilateral political engagement, trade and economic cooperation, border security and counter-terrorism, energy and connectivity, reconstruction and rehabilitation, and people-to-people contacts, Pakistan foreign office said in a statement.
Visiting Afghan President will also meet President Mamnoon Hussain, Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar, Sartaj Aziz and leaders of various political parties.
After the new government in Kabul, Pakistan sent President Mamnoon Hussain to the oath-taking ceremony of President Ashraf Ghani. After this Pakistan’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz and Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif have visited Kabul to initiate a new phase of bilateral relations.
