PESHAWAR: The security agencies launched a search operation in adjoining areas of Bacha Khan Airport of Peshawar after a shooting incident at an airliner killed a woman and injured two crew members on Wednesday night, ARY News reported.
The security agencies arrested over 100 suspects in the search operation in the areas adjacent to Peshawar airport and transferred to detention centres for interrogation.
According to preliminary investigations 10 bullets hit the PIA flight PK-756, which also damaged an engine of the aircraft.
The flight operations at the airport were suspended after the firing incident and the Army and other security agencies cordoned off the airport. The airport authorities later announced to restore the flight operations.
According to a PIA spokesman the pilot skillfully landed the flight PK-756 after the firing. The flight had 178 passengers onboard.
A woman passenger was killed while two flight stewards Ejaz Afridi and Wajid were injured. The injured were immediately shifted to the Combined Military Hospital for medical attendance.
