Aitzaz says ready to advice PTI over Panama Papers case

LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party leader Senator Aitzaz Ahsan says inquiry into Panama Papers must be carried out under provisions of the bill submitted in the Parliament. 

Ahsan, while speaking to media, said the criteria for investigation should be same for Nawaz Sharif as it was for then PM Yousuf Raza Gillani. He said PM Sharif had himself accepted to have property worth Rs 8 billion.

“The Prime Minister has no escape now and must face accountability,” saying that he will be available for consultation if asked by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

“It is ironic to witness that Hussain Nawaz says he bought flats in Jeddah after selling mills, while Qatar’s prince says the Sharif family did not set up any mill…this is contradictory,” Ahsan pointed out.

He further that the letter by a prince of Qatar has no legal status, until the prince himself appears in court and accepts it. “The letter of the Qatari prince is just a piece of junk.”

He insisted that PPP’s announced movement on December 27 will not have any u-turn, “the movement will grow and move on”.

To a question, he said that the Constitution did not have any provision regarding the Army Chief’s appointment. The COAS is appointed under Army Act and the decision is taken by the Prime Minister.
