The melodious singer has been away from the public. The reason being Pakistani media’s repeated tendency to forget its talented artists and move onto other ones. The emerging crop of young talent in the form of Ali Zafar, Atif Aslam, Call the Band and Jal have been astounding but our industry legends deserve more.
Ali Haider became a household name in Pakistan when his song ‘Purani Jeans’ first came out and was instantly taken up by the public. His innocent, boyish good looks helped him earn quite a few roles in a TV serials as well as a movie alongside Meera and Zara Sheikh, titled Chalo Ishq Larain. His acting skills and talent have lately been recognized by a Hollywood filmmaker, who is firm on casting him alongside two other Hollywood stars, with Ali having the lead role.
It is sad and disappointing to see that our singers, musicians and actors have to seek recognition abroad rather than in Pakistan. If we provide our talented artists with the proper coverage and attention that encourages them, they will have no reason to venture out into neighboring India. Talented musicians such as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shiraz Uppal are some examples that succeeded in India after failing to get a nod in Pakistan.
