Amitabh slapped with complaint alleging he instigated anti-Sikh riots

The complaint can be the cause for a setback if Bachchan is found guilty due to the fact that he was to make his commentating debut in the India-Pakistan World Cup clash this Sunday at Adelaide. The complaint was launched with Commonwealth Attorney General Senator George Brandis and urges a probe into the allegations that Bachchan instigated the violent riots.
The complaint alleges that after Indira Gandhi was assassinated, on November 31st 1984, Amitabh Bachchan, being a close friend of the Gandhi family, raised the slogan ‘Blood for blood’. The slogan was immediately picked ub by the Indian public as it was broadcasted by the state owned braodcaster Doordarshan.
“Under these acts, Commonwealth has extra territorial jurisdiction over the crimes against humanity and genocide committed anywhere in the world,” said SFJ legal advisor Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
Bachchan can be sentenced if found guilty as according to Pannun, Australian courts have the jurisdiction to try any case that pertains to crimes against humanity whether or not it was committed in the country.“Under these acts, Commonwealth has extra territorial jurisdiction over the crimes against humanity and genocide committed anywhere in the world,” said SFJ legal advisor Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. Pannun also informed that the Supreme Sikh Council was also closely working with the SFJ group to pursue the complaint with the Attorney General.
Amitabh was to commentate on the much-awaited India-Pakistan match in order to promote his latest flick, Shamitabh. The actor is to commentate on the match alongside legendary cricketer Kapil Dev, ex-speedster Shoaib Akhtar and experienced commentator Harsha Bhogle.
