Rauf Siddiqui's name nowhere in Baldia factory fire JIT: MQM Pakistan

KARACHI: Chairman Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan Farooq Sattar on Monday said that senior party leader Rauf Siddiqui’s name is nowhere in the five Joint Investigation Team (JIT) reports related to the 2012 Baldia factory fire incident, ARY News reported.
Addressing a press conference at party’s temporary headquarters, Farooq Sattar said that at least five JITs have been made to investigate the tragic incident but Rauf Siddiqui’s name is nowhere in any of the five JIT reports.
The MQM Pakistan chief demanded from the government to hold a transparent probe into what he called “one of the most tragic incidents of Karachi and give severe punishment to the criminals behind the heinous crime”.
He added that if any MQM official, no matter at what level, is found involved in the crime, he or she should be brought to justice and MQM-Pakistan faction will fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies in this regard.
At least 250 labourers lost their lives when the factory Ali Enterprises, located in city’s Baldia Town area, was allegedly set ablaze on September 11 in 2012.

Prime accused of the incident, Abdur Rehman alias Bhola was brought back to Karachi from Thailand’s Bangkok city earlier this month.
Bhola has confessed his offence before the investigators and named names who actually ordered to set garments factory on fire over non-payment of extortion.
In his confession report, Bhola had stated that thenKarachi Tanzeemi Committee (KTC) in-charge of MQM Hammad Siddiqui reportedly sought extortion and shares in the company from factory owners, and upon refusal, decided to punish them.
It is pertinent to note here that MQM is currently operating in two factions, the party’s London faction is being operated from British capital while MQM-Pakistan is currently working under Farooq Sattar.
The Farooq Sattar faction comprises mostly of party’s legislators, the faction gradually dissociated itself from London after MQM chief’s controversial August 22 speech.
