This should be noted that in 2017 till September, Indian forces have carried out 873 ceasefire violations along the LoC and Working Boundary resulting in martyrdom of 39 innocent civilians and injuries to 144 people.

Acting Director General South Asia and SAARC urged New Delhi to respect the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement. He also asked the Indian side to investigate and halt the incidents of ceasefire violations to maintain peace on the LoC.

The then defence minister Khawaja Asif in January this year said at least 40 civilians had died and 138 others injured in Indian ceasefire violations at the working boundary and LoC since July 2016.

“India has carried out ceasefire violations at the working boundary and LoC for 330 times between July and December last year – including 290 violations at the LoC and 40 at the working boundary,” he said.
