Army troops on way to Rajanpur to strike a blow at bandits

The battalion comprising of 450 troops will move to Rajanpur to deal a harsh blow to the Chotu Gang and other criminals in the lawless Katcha areas of Punjab that border Sindh and Balochistan.

Military’s gunship helicopters will also assist the ground force in the offensive.

Earlier today, Punjab government sought help of Army in the fight against Chotu Gang following deaths of six policemen including a station house officer (SHO) in the district.

On Wednesday, the bandits killed six out of 30 cops who headed to island like Kachi Jamal area in two boats and took 24 hostage. The area is believed to be a bastion of Chotu Gang that borders Dera Bugti in Balochistan.

Of late, police and paramilitary Rangers mounted an offensive against criminal gangs in the lawless areas.

The miscreants in the difficult-to-access area have nexus with banned outfits and have long been committing robberies and kidnappings, and go into hiding.
