LAHORE: Mian Faisal, who allegedly beat and tortured his wife for not dancing for his friends, filed an application in a sessions court in Lahore seeking his release on bail.

The accused through his counsel challenged a judicial magistrate’s ruling that rejected his bail plea in the case last week.

He contended in the application that the magisterial court rejected his bail plea without taking the true facts into consideration, adding that a medical report of the tortured woman didn’t prove any serious injury inflicted on her.

Faisal’s lawyer argued that the charges against his client in the first information report are bailable offences. He, therefore, pleaded that he should be granted bail.

The police had arrested the suspects after a video of Asma Aziz sharing her ordeal began doing rounds on social media.

The investigation officer had earlier told the court that Faisal had tortured his wife and shaved her head because she refused to dance for his friends.

Aziz stated before the court that her husband was drunk when he came home with two friends on the night of March 24. “My husband tied my feet with a water pipe and tortured me.
