ATC awards death sentence to three accused

Police on Friday presented the accused Abid Akram, Shabbir Ahmed and Sarfaraz Ahmed before the ATC, pertaining to the 15 building attack case.

During the hearing, prosecution told the court that the accused were responsible for attacks on the buildings of Police 15 and an intelligence agency, and there is concrete evidence available against them.

The counsels of the accused denied the charges and claimed that the police do not have solid evidence. They requested the court to acquit their clients.

The ATC after listening to the arguments of both the sides handed death sentence to all the three accused on 23 counts.

The court also ordered the culprits to pay Rs 5 lac each to the heirs of the deceased of the attack.

Back in 2009, at least 23 people were killed and several injured in attacks on the offices of Police 15 and an intelligence agency.
