Australia brush off West Indies in tri-series

Australia won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first.

The Caribbean side were back in the pavilion after putting just 116 runs on the scoreboard in 32.3 overs. Opener Johnson Charles made 22 runs from 40 balls while Carlos Brathwaite scored 21 from 48 deliveries.

Australian spinner Adam Zampa and Nathan Lyon got three wickets each while pacer Mitchell Starc grabbed two wickets.

The Kangaroos, chasing 117 runs to win, reached the target in 25.4 overs with six wickets to spare.

Opener David Warner scored an unbeaten half century as he made run-a-ball 55 runs with the help of three boundaries and a six.

Usman Khawaja and Aaron made 27 and 19 runs respectively.

West Indies spinner Sunil Narine grabbed two wickets while Sulieman Benn and Jason Holder dismissed one Australian batsman each.

Nathan Lyon was named Player of the match.

The big win helped Australia to gain a bonus point in the series. Australia top the table with five points followed by West Indies with four points. South Africa are at third place with zero points.

The host nation had beaten South Africa by four wickets in the opening match of the tournament.
