Australia subdued as Misbah scores fastest test fifty

Pakistan subdued Australia with a massive 519-run lead on fourth day of the Test at lunch. However, the Misbah’s side have not declared the innings as yet.

Azhar Ali has scored 72 off 139 balls alongside Misbah and still present at the crease with the skipper.

AFP adds: Pakistan were 210-3 at lunch Sunday on the fourth day of the second Test — 519 ahead of Australia — after Misbah-ul Haq set a world record for the fastest Test half-century.

Misbah’s 50 came off 21 balls, beating the previous record of 24 balls set by South Africa’s Jacques Kallis against Zimbabwe at Cape Town in 2004.

He hit four boundaries and as many sixes.

Pakistan, who won the first Test by 221 runs in Dubai, look well set to achieve their first series victory over mighty Australia since 1994.

Resuming on 61-2, the only wicket to fall in the morning session was that of Younis Khan lbw to Steven Smith for 46.

Pakistan had scored 570-6 declared in their first innings and then dismissed Australia for 261.
