During a post-match segment after the Big Bash clash between the Melbourne Renegades and the Adelaide Strikers on Monday McLaughlin slipped up and called Mark Waugh by Damien Fleming’s name.
The Channel 10 journalist, Waugh, and fellow panel guest Kevin Pietersen all burst into laughter with McLaughlin apologising and saying: ‘I’ll buy you a drink’.

Social media was quick to respond to McLaughlin’s comments, drawing parallels between her remarks and Chris Gayle’s ‘don’t blush baby’, gaffe earlier this month.
‘So Mel McLaughling just offered to buy Mark Waugh a drink… he shouldn’t be subject to that in a workplace #dontblushbaby #chrisgayle’, Simon tweeted.
‘Did Mel McLaughling just tell Mark Waugh that she’d buy him a drink? This is a two way street Mel… #slipperlyslope’, Tom posted.
Others took McLaughlin’s side, arguing the difference in contexts of two interactions.
