Actor-turned-author: Meet Amjad Khan’s son Shadaab

Veteran Bollywood actor (late) Amjad Khan was one of the iconic actors of the Indian film industry whose role as Gabbar in cult classic made him an immortal star. But his son Shadaab Khan doesn’t seem to follow suit.

Shadaab, who made his acting debut with Rani Mukerji in “Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat”, before stepping away from the showbiz arena. His first film didn’t go well at the big screens and ending up as flop. He then decided to quit acting and later became an author.

The actor’s son Shadaab Khan said he is working on a biography of his father.

In 2015, Amitabh Bachchan launched a book, ‘Murder in Bollywood’ written by Shadaab at an event.  Big B shared a close friendship with Shadaab’s father, Amjad Khan who shared screen space with the actor in many films including ‘Sholay’.

At the time of launching Amitabh said:  “Shadaab, seeing you in this form is quite unbelievable for me. You were literally born in front of me… Amjad bhai and me were great friends and colleagues together in several films and we had a special relationship… my presence today is because of that relationship.”

Now, Shadaab is also writing a biography of his father which will be released soon.

“I am working on a book on my father and will start it next year. The book will have details about his professional and personal life. We want everyone to know about the great work he has done as an actor and how he was in real life,” Shadaab said in a statement some time ago.

In his career spanning nearly two decades, Amjad Khan has worked in over 130 films but is best remembered for his iconic portrayal of villain ‘Gabbar’ in 1975 movie ‘Sholay’, which completed 42 years the other day.

His other prominent films include ‘Kalia’, ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’, ‘Yaarana’, ‘Barsaat Ki Ek Raat’, ‘Des Pardes’, ‘Nastik’, ‘Satte Pe Satta’, ‘Dada’, ‘Laawaris’, ‘Ganga Ki Saugandh’, ‘Hum Kisise Kam Nahin’ and ‘Naseeb’ among others.
