Bacha Khan University reopened after 26 days

According to details, the Bacha Khan University in Charsadda was re-opened today after 26 days of closure. Stringent security measures were undertaken, as a watch tower was constructed every 100 meters apart. More CCTV cameras were also installed in order to improve vigilance and ensure foolproof security.

On January 20, 2016, four armed men had stormed the university and opened indiscriminate firing. A mushaira had been scheduled to take place in the university on the occasion of Bacha Khan’s birthday. Hundreds of students and administration staff were inside the university when the attack had taken place. Pakistan Army had been called in to quell the attack, which they did after several hours of fighting and more than 40 people getting killed.

All four terrorists had been killed in the operation. A few days later, DG ISPR General Asim Bajwa had held a press conference and shared the details of the investigation pertaining to the Bacha Khan University attack in a press conference and unveiled the facilitators of the attack in front of the media.
