KANPUR, INDIA: Indian police on Thursday confiscated balloons with ‘I love Pakistan’ imprinted on them at a shop in Kanpur and detained two people.
Indian police raided a shop in Govind Nagar area in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh and seized packets of balloons from a vendor. The balloons had imprints of ‘I Love Pakistan’ and ‘Habibi’, which means love or darling in Arabic.
The balloons were sold from a provision store near the police station, Station House Officer Amit Singh said. A police complaint has been registered for making assertions prejudicial to national integration under the Indian Penal Code.
The balloons were first noticed by advocate Ajai Pratap Singh
who had gone to buy items for son’s birthday, said city superintendent Ashok Verma. Singh is associated with the extremist and militant Hindu Yuva Vahini founded by incumbent chief minister Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath.

He immediately informed to police who swung into action and detained the vendor and supplier who have been identified as has Sunny and Sameer Vig, both residents of Govind Nagar area.
They disclosed that the balloons came from ‘Gubbarey Wali Gali’ (Balloon Street) in Saddar Bazaar, the biggest and oldest wholesale market in Delhi, and a team has been sent there for further investigation.
