Last week, a student wing of a religious party had attacked a group of male and female students playing cricket together in the university ground. The students had to wait for over an hour for their point buses to return homes. To spend their leisure time, they started playing cricket. The activists of the student wing of a religious party arrived at the spot and thrashed the students for intermingling.

The incident sparked protest within the university campus against the ‘violent’ student wing. In a latest development, the varsity administration has imposed ban on women cricket, drawing protest from scores of students. The media was also stopped from covering the students protest in the university. Security guards of the varsity also thrashed journalists at the entrance gate.
