Bangladesh, England make winning start in Under-19 Cricket World Cup

Bangladesh defeated South Africa by 43 runs at Chittagong.

The hosts won the toss and opted to take guard.

In their 50 overs, Bangladesh scored 240/7 in their 50 overs with Nazmul Hossain Shanto being the top scorer with 73 runs while Joyraz Sheik and Pinak Ghosh made 46 and 43 runs runs respectively.

Wiaan Mulder grabbed three wickets while Lutho Sipamla, Sean Whitehead and Tony de Zorzi grabbed three wickets each.

The South African team was dismissed on 197 runs in 48.4 overs with Liam Smith scored 100 runs for the team.

Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Mohammad Saifuddin grabbed three wickets while Saeed Sarkar and Saleh Ahmed Shawon dismissed two batsmen each.

On the other, England thrashed Fiji by 299 runs at Chittagong.

The English side opted to take guard in the match. They posed a mammoth total of 371/3 in their 50 overs with David Lawrence scoring 174 runs and Jack Burnham contributing 148 runs with bat.

Cackacaka Tikoisuva, Jack Charters and Josaia Baleicikoibia grabbed three wickets each.

In reply, The Fiji team could only manage 72 runs on the board with two of its batsmen scoring in double figures.

Peni Vuniwaqa and Jack Charters made 36 and 10 runs respectively for their team.

Saqib Mahmood and Sam Curran dismissed three batsmen each.
