Beyond the Heights – A story of Pakistan's courageous daughter

Muslims societies are often criticized by west as Patriarchal society, that we don’t practice gender equality and women empowerment as a nation.  However, 21 years old Samina Baig rebuts all that criticism by becoming the youngest Muslim woman to conquer the tallest mountain on the face of earth Mount Everest.

Beyond the Heights is documentary film written and produced by Mirza Ali who is a pivotal character of Samina Baig’s life and journey. The film is about the journey of mountaineer siblings from Pakistan Mirza Ali and Samina Baig who embarked on Mount Everest.  The film is about the struggle of a brother from a small village Shimshal in Hunza valley, who persuades his sister to climb the highest peak. Beyond the Heights is all about passion, motivation and  courage, so we don’t want to reveal much about this exciting and extraordinary story of siblings who made the country proud not only by conquering Mt. Everest but also by setting an example of gender equality in the country.

The film is directed by freelance filmmaker Jawad Sharif and it is slated to release on New Year. The enthralling trailer of the documentary has created enough curiosity among the audience who wants to see a positive portrayal of Pakistan through real life stories.

Samina Baig created history by becoming the first Pakistani women to conquer Mt. Everest on 19th May, 2013.
