Bilawal says no mood of talking with Nawaz Sharif

LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday declined an invitation saying that they are in no mood to talk with ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

The PPP chairman while speaking to reporters said that democracy was instead being threatened by Nawaz Sharif, who has a track record of conspiring against democratic governments.

“Democracy is being threatened by Mian sahab, PPP has given immense sacrifices for its sake,” he said adding that Sharif was an opportunist and was looking for his personal gains.

He said that there are in mood to meet him. “He is an opportunist. I am not aware of his ideology. He is not even aware of the term ideology,” he added.

Bilawal Bhutto said hat all political parties were unanimous that the democratic setup should continue in the country, and the PPP has always stood beside democracy.

He said the PPP still stood by the notion of civilian superiority, and advised that Nawaz Sharif should accept the court’s verdict like former prime minister Yusuf Raza Gillani.

He said that everyone would have to play its role for the sake of democracy, and should instead think of the nation rather other foreign vested interests. He hoped that Nawaz Sharif and even Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf chairman Imran Khan will work to preserve the democracy setup in the country.

Nawaz Sharif had expressed desire to meet with PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari saying that he still stood by the Charter of Democracy signed between the two parties.

However, the PPP appears to cautious in dealing with the embattled former premier who along with several of this family members is facing a string of corruption references against him.
