Bilawal has not demanded PM's resignation, says Malik

This should be noted here that contrary to Malik’s statement Bilawal had last month asked the prime minister, through a post on Twitter, to present himself before parliament and “follow his own advice and resign.”

Holding a presser in London, Malik said the future of democracy is linked with the Parliament and the Panama leaks issue should be resolved there.

“If Parliament can’t be used for resolution of issues then lock it,” he said.

Bilawal and former president Asif Ali Zardari are on the same page with regard to the Panama Papers disclosures and resignation of the prime minister. “Asif Ali Zardari has said that he is in favor of democracy.”

While commenting on the opposition’s walkout from the National Assembly on Monday, Malik said it would be better if Leader of Opposition Khursheed Shah had taken some more time speaking in the House after PM’s speech, adding, “However, I could not understand why PTI chief Imran Khan walked out of the House.”

He urged everyone to be a part of the solution now, not part of the problem.

Since Panama Papers leaks has become an issue for the entire nation, so, the nation should also have its input in its solution, he said, adding that he would come up in a few days with a review report on Panamagate.

Malik also said Bilawal’s progress in politics had hurt the opponents.

To a query, he said there were some ailments that could not be cured in Pakistan, therefore Zardari had to come to London. “We need to improve our health system.”

“Pakistan should have hospitals of such standards that nobody could opt for getting treated out of the country,” he said.

Earlier today, Zardari and Malik had a detailed discussion at a meeting in London regarding Panama leaks.

Zardari announced a committee headed by Malik, including PPP Punjab leader Safdar Warraich and Khurram Latif Khosa, to prepare a review report on Panama documents. The committee would submit the report to party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in two weeks.

Sources said PPP would take a decision over Panama Papers after reviewing the report in central executive committee (CEC) meeting.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been accused of having links with the offshore companies. He responded on Monday to the allegations leveled against him in National Assembly. The opposition said his speech failed to answers to their queries.

Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah said that the opposition would now only debate on the questions in the NA session.

PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the prime minister failed to give answers to the seven-point questionnaire, which compelled the opposition to now prepare 70 questions.
