Bilawal rejects budget terming it a plot to break the federation

He said in the comments on Twitter that the budget has neglected the smaller provinces and was designed to benefit ‘Punjabistan’.

A high-level meeting of the PPP which convened in Dubai on Friday had decided to reject the federal budget claiming that no relief has been provided to the common man in the new fiscal year budget.

It had said that revenues from Sindh had amounted to nearly 70% of the total but the province has been neglected in the federal budget. It also said that there was a need for large development schemes and projects in Sindh but  the budget had failed to make such provisions.

It had also said that the federal budget would lead to further deterioration of relations between the provinces and the federation, and will increase frustration and resentment among the smaller provinces of the country.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah also expressed his disappointment and had raised objections during the meeting of the National Economic Council which had approved the budget. However, Shah claimed that he was not entertained due to the high-handed attitude of the federal government.

The meeting was presided over by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif online from London.
